Lacy Stelling ’24C
Lacy Stelling ’24C earned her Master of Education in School Counseling while balancing a full-time job, being a mom, wife and community volunteer.

What was your major or degree program?
Master of Education in School Counseling

Tell us a little about what you've done since graduating. What is your current role? Where are you working?
I currently serve as the School Counselor at Osmond Community School

How do you feel Doane prepared you for your career?
The required courses and the information that was covered helped prepare me with tools and knowledge to become a school counselor.

What do you consider the best part of your Doane experience?
The director, Rachel Catlett was a great instructor and director. She was always willing to answer questions and help explain assignments. Her feedback and knowledge was so helpful.

What is something you're proud of accomplishing or achieving while at Doane? What are you proud of accomplishing or achieving in your career?
I was able to receive masters in School Counseling while being a full-time school counselor, mom, wife, and volunteer in the community.

Who has been/is a major influence or role model for you from Doane? How have they helped you?
Rachel Catlett and Ellie Tompkins were both great to work with and learn from during my internship semester. Rachel strived to communicate expectations and keep us informed. Ellie, answered any questions I had and gave many suggestions on things I could try to improve my school counseling practices.

What advice would you give to current students?
Reach out to the staff in your department! I was so blessed to have worked with people that wanted to help me succeed.

What's something you like about yourself that other people may not know?
I am an advocate for students and children. I truly want to help them succeed just as others have helped me.
