At Doane University, faith and spirituality are integral to our vibrant campus community. Students have the opportunity to participate in, belong to, and thrive in multiple faith-based groups and activities, which is a reflection of our constant pursuit of inclusivity. Engaging with these organizations not only enriches a student's college experience but it also fosters a sense of belonging and purpose.
"College is an important time for a student to explore their faith and their spirituality," Steph Hemje said. Hemje is
Experiential Learning Coordinator at Doane and an advisor for Doane Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ). "I love that I get to walk along side them and encourage them in their journey!"
Doane's Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is another group that provides students an environment to grow spiritually. The group hosts Bible studies, fellowship and social events like game nights and movies. FCA's advisor, Ken Marvin ’85, hopes students continue their spiritual journey as alums.
"Graduating, we pray our students continue to grow in their faith and share the gospel in their influential spheres," Marvin said.
Whether seeking a space for reflection, a group to explore beliefs, or a community to support and challenge spiritual growth, students can find safe and inclusive spaces to do all of the above at Doane.
