As Doane University looks forward, a variety of exciting and strategic changes are being made to enhance sustainability, collaboration, and student success.

Expanding the Arts: New Performing Arts Center Addition

Doane University continues the construction of the Performing Arts Center addition, further enhancing opportunities for students in music, theater and the arts. This privately funded expansion will provide upgraded facilities, improved performance spaces, and state-of-the-art resources, reinforcing our commitment to a well-rounded education that embraces creativity and expression. It is expected to be completed by December 2026.

Academic Restructure: Strengthening Our Future

Doane is transitioning from three colleges to two, balancing academic programs, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and improving resource allocation. Undergraduate and graduate programs will be available in both colleges, ensuring a more cohesive experience.

The transition will be phased in over the next year with input from faculty, staff and students.

Benefits of the Restructure:

  • Stronger Programs: Unified academic offerings aligned with student needs.
  • Better Resource Allocation: Streamlined administration to support academics and services.
  • Mission Alignment: Enhancing efficiency and reducing redundancies.

University Innovation and Development Center

Doane is launching the University Innovation and Development Center, a hub for professional development, research and collaboration. The center will support faculty and staff through:

  • Workshops & Training: Innovative teaching strategies and technology integration.
  • Research Support: Grant writing resources and research showcases.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Connecting faculty and staff for new ideas and partnerships.
  • Success Initiatives: Mentorship programs and recognition efforts.

Record-Breaking Retention Rates

Doane celebrates a 93.63% fall-to-spring retention rate for first-year students - the highest in 20 years. Crete campus enrollment has reached 841 students, its highest in four years, exceeding state and national retention averages.

This success reflects the collective efforts of faculty, staff, and the Undergraduate Acceptance, Retention, and Persistence (UARP) Committee, which launched in 2024 to track student progress and provide support.

Looking Ahead

By strengthening academics, investing in faculty and staff, and enhancing student support, Doane is shaping a bright future. Stay engaged as we continue evolving together.
