Make a Difference With Your Time

Doane benefits from the numerous volunteers who are willing to give of their time and talent. Are you interested? This page describes five specific areas where you can get involved. Click on each section to see if your talents fit our needs. Submit your name on the volunteer form.

Help Plan Your Class Reunion!

While many events are already being planned, we know that the most successful reunions benefit from your input! Ideally, 9-12 volunteers from your class will step up and agree to meet online with staff from our office to help plan and guide your fellow classmates in this milestone. This collaboration is a low-time commitment but will help ensure a memorable celebration for all.

Volunteers are asked to:

  1. Help brainstorm reunion activities
  2. Invite classmates to attend Homecoming
  3. Share your reunion on social media

Each reunion class will work alongside a Doane's Advancement staff member in this planning

Alumni Career Services

Throughout the year, alumni volunteers share their expertise, advice and career success stories at career workshops, professional development seminars, industry panel discussions and networking events. Opportunities to participate occur on all Doane campuses in Crete, Lincoln, and Omaha. Volunteers in specific career segments are contacted throughout the year.

Job Opportunities

Handshake - The Nebraska College Recruiting Consortium provides a convenient connection between employers and students/alumni from eight of Nebraska’s four-year colleges and universities. Employers and students/alumni can access the Consortium’s online job board.

  • Employers can post full-time and part-time positions, internships, and volunteer/service opportunities which can be accessed by students and alumni from the Consortium member institutions.
  • Employers can interview students and alumni at a central location, rather than traveling to each of the eight Consortium schools.
  • The Consortium provides résumé referral services to employers.

Help Find Lost Alumni

Over the years, there have been many alumni with whom we have lost touch. Doane University would like to get back in contact with these alumni to tell them about class reunions and other alumni events. The lost alumni are located under the decades listed in the accordion below. If you see your name or know someone on our list, please email us [email protected] or encourage them to visit the contact page with their address or name change.

Other Ways to Help

Submit an Alumni Referral

Alumni play a significant role in attracting bright and talented young men and women to our community of scholars. Do you know a high school junior or senior looking for the right fit? Refer a student and help develop the Doane legacy.

Postcard Project

The Postcard Project is a joint effort between the Alumni Council and the Office of Admissions to recruit the next generation of students to Doane. You can encourage prospective students that have visited the School of Arts and Sciences in Crete to attend Doane by sharing your favorite campus memories and life lessons. Postcards will also be sent to newly enrolled students on the Lincoln and Omaha campuses.

Courtesy Driver

At times, potential students will fly into the Lincoln or Omaha airport in order to visit campus. Alumni drivers are needed to help transport these students and families to Crete. Retired alumni or those that have morning/afternoons free are encouraged to volunteer their services as we help out-of-state students feel welcome upon arrival. Background and driver's license checks required.

High School Fairs

Help attract the best and brightest students to Doane by volunteering at high school college fairs. Who is better equipped to speak knowingly about Doane than you, our alumni? Contact [email protected] to be sent the best Doane material to share with your community.

Share Your Memories

Most importantly, share memories of your time at Doane with your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors or anyone else looking for an excellent education. Encourage them to consider Doane. Be a proud ambassador of Doane.
